About Us
We are proud to be a community museum. The museum began as a concept by citizens of Port Colborne in 1974. Staff and volunteers have worked together since then to collect and share the history of Port Colborne, with more than 26,000 donated artifacts. Museum volunteers assist in nearly every area of operations. Our volunteers are Board of Management members, Auxiliary Members, weekly and event volunteers.
The Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum is part of the Department of Heritage and Culture of the City of Port Colborne, and is dedicated to preserving and telling the story of Port Colborne.
Our Board of Management is a committee appointed by Port Colborne City Council. Meetings are open to the public, take place at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month (except August and December) and are held at the L. R. Wilson Heritage Archives.
